Loss of habitat is the greatest threat to the survival of the Red-tailed, Baudin’s and Carnaby’s Cockatoos species found in the South West of Western Australia. All three species are listed as threatened; the Carnaby’s Black cockatoo is listed as endangered due to the population declining by 50% in the last 50 years. Immediate action needs to be taken for the protection of our native forests, which are vital breeding and feeding habitats for these birds as well as other unique species to Western Australia.
